Saying goodbye to my treo, but there's a reason.
I
liked my new treo 270. It hasn't been that long
since I ordered it, hoping to combine Palm features
with a GSM
set.
It wasn't that cheap and I really didn't expect
to
see it end up at Smashmyphone so quickly.
This
is not a review site, so I will not go into every
detail. The phone worked well in some respects,
but
had its flaws.
Some
of our models don't like Siemens, so they never
felt bad about smashing
them. That's
a reasonable point of view, especially if
you ever tried their sync to PC or Mac. But there
have
been
great exceptions. One Siemens served me well
for more than a year, and it was hard to see
it go in
the hands of our technicians.
Nokia
phones are more popular here, their software is
generally intuitive. What about the Treo?
It's easy
to understand, not always so easy to use.
In
my opinion, not as practical as a Blackberry.
Some things were
annoying. The keyboard would not light
up in the dark in SMS mode, making impossible to
write
a message
at night. Their door breaks, and once in
a
while the phone would go offline. Those are
some of
the many small annoyances that convinced
me to sacrifice
this great phone to the good of Smashmyphone.com.
Of
course I could have called tech support,
but I never found the numbers online, or wasn't
able to reach them. Besides, we're in Europe here,
so I don't expect to see a tech support department
helping for real :)
This
update is coming up in December 2004.
